Echtra - Burn It All Away

Incredible release from one of the masterminds of Fauna. First off ignore the metal-archives genre, this is pure atmospheric black metal, no drone and no folk, maybe the new release has those elements but this one sure doesn’t. The music is very monotonous, repetitive and trance inducing thanks, in part, to the extreme length of each song; the sound is raw and the, scarcely used, vocals are quite low in the mix, basically a perfect mix for an album of this nature. A mandatory release for fans of early Branikald and Paysage D’hiver.

I think the monotonous nature of this album is where the drone tag comes from.

But yes, great, great record. Trance inducing indeed.

Ignore metal-archives? I think that's something we should all do. Not only for this project, but for most other ones too.

Well said hardcorey! Haha. It's like the imdb of music. Everyone on there seems to be an opinionated arsehole.

I have War For Wonder. Is this a similar album?

Honestly, David - I like it quite a bit, but I'm a sucker for this stuff. A War For Wonder, I think, is objectively more interesting, more fluid and dynamic, while this one is more drone-y and repetitive, due to the ritualistic nature of the music. It might take a few more listens to get into, but its definitely worth it.
