Grim Funeral - A Grim Funeral to the soul of this world

Debut album by this Spanish one-man band released last year on THR after two quite enjoyable split releases. The label really praised this release and I feel stupid for not getting this when it was released because this an absolutely amazing release and worth of all the praise it gets! (labels do tend to exaggerate, even good ones like THR) Dark as fuck dissonant black metal with a really distinctive feel, reminds me a bit of early Nordic bands. The production is pure perfection, sounds like it was recorded in an empty church, spacey and huge yet at the same time raw. The songs, even though long, never get old as the song writing just pulls you in the total void of darkness….
Bottom line, get this NOW!!!!
(And check out the bands website, incredibly well made!)

I wasn't too keen on this one. The guitars were WAY TOO Tinny and trebly, even for black metal. Sounds a bit like Striborg's production. Maybe I need to listen to it more to appreciate it.
