Hail - Crimson Madrigal

Awesome black metal from the US; the music is extremely raw and with a heavy dose of experimentation, similar to L'Acephale yet with an own sound. There are also some really well made folk ambient interludes that add to the strange atmosphere. This is a very interesting and hard to swallow release but rewarding in its own right. Also features a Ulver cover.

Hail put out a bunch of "demo" CDs last year as well, EXTREMELY limited (yes, even more limited than Crimson Madrigal, which was limited to 93 copies) and impossible to find. If by any chance you come across any of those ("Folklife," "Frozen Grave," "Permafrost," and "Seeds"), I'd be deeply indebted to you.

Hail is Brian's "other" band. Some of the songs on Crimson Madrigal are different versions of L'acephale songs on two of their newest releases.
